Sweet Summertime!!

I ♥ summer!!! It has been so nice to have all this time off to spend it with sweet Charlie.  I can't believe a month has already gone by.....time needs to slow down just a bit! We have had a lot of fun going over to Nana and Papa's to swim.  Charlie loves his raft and getting in the water.  I'm so glad he likes the pool, just like his mom! :)

Papa and Charlie always have a good time together too.  Check out Papa's shirt- World's Greatest Papa.  He's the best Papa and Dad a girl can have.  Hope you had a fun Father's Day!!! We love you!

We also had a baby swim date with some Hyer moms and we had a blast! Here the sweet babies are before we got in the pool.  Aren't they cute?!

I can't wait for more summer fun activities! We are having a blast and loving summer!!!

We love you Polly!!

We have found Charlie's favorite song- Polly Wolly Doodle!!! Nana used to sing this song with Charlie when she watched him and we had no idea he loved it this much!!! As soon as he hears it, he stops what he is doing and a huge smile comes over his face.  It works especially well when he is fussy and we have tried everything else to calm him down.  Check out why we love Polly so much!

Happy First Father's Day, Justin!!

Top ten reasons why you are a GREAT Dad:

1.  You were by my side from the minute we found out we were pregnant, through bed rest, labor and delivery, and every day with Charlie now- you help around the house, clean, care for Charlie, and always encourage me!

2.  You read the baby books with me, went to classes, shopped and got the house ready for sweet baby Charlie.....and you did all of this while I was in the hospital on bed rest! You were amazing!!

3.  You changed Charlie's first diaper....and second, third, and fourth.....and empty the diaper genie almost every day!

4.  You swaddled Charlie every night when he was being swaddled for the first four months.  You figured out that we needed to double swaddle him and put the woombie on top of that.  From then on he slept through the night thanks to you.  :)

5.  You trim Charlie's finger nails a lot and he doesn't get fussy when you do this.

6.  Charlie loves his bath time with his Daddy! You always cuddle with him after bath time and I know he loves that special time with you!

7.  You dance with Charlie and calm him down during his magical hour at 7:30pm when he gets fussy and tired.

8.  Charlie LOVES hearing your voice and smiles each time he sees you- I know he looks up to you already!

9.  You go to all of Charlie's doctors appointments with me and help me remember all the question I want to ask the doctor. :)

10.  You love Charlie like crazy, and that makes me love you even more!

There are a million more reasons that you're a wonderful Daddy too! We are only 5 1/2 months into this, and we are learning new things together daily! I'm so thankful you are my teammate in this.  Charlie and I are so lucky to have you.  We love you!!

Charlie goes to Cali!

Flashback to one year ago on Mother's Day 2010.  Matt just came home a month earlier from Afghanistan and we were excited to head to San Diego to welcome him home.  Matt, Dawn, and Erin surprised us with the big news that she was pregnant and expecting the first grandchild of the Boggs side of the family due in January 2011.  Justin and I weren't pregnant yet and had no idea that we would end up having a baby in January as well! :)
Flash forward to 2011- Charlie and Miles are born and just 13 days apart.  Charlie Austin born on January 2nd weighing 5 pounds, 10 ounces.....
....and Miles Henry born January 13th weighing 9 pounds, 7 ounces
We have been looking forward to boys meeting since they were born, so you can only imagine what a special weekend we had ahead of us!

We left Friday morning bright and early.  Justin and I love to travel and we were so excited to introduce our lil' guy to our love of traveling.  We quickly learned that traveling with a newborn is quite different.  We never check bags and we now have a trunk full of bags just for a long weekend away!

Our adventure begins....
We flew SWA and they were wonderful!!! I was not surprised and it made our first flight experience that much easier!! I was a little nervous about flying with a teething 5 month old but he did great!!!

The flight attendants even gave Charlie his first wings and first flight certificate....they were awesome!
One diaper explosion, two flights, two feedings, and four hours later we made it to LAX.  Yay! We did it!!
We then headed over to the rent car area and were ready to head to Huntington Beach...
....but before we headed to the beach, we had to introduce Charlie to In-n-Out Burger :)
He was pretty excited about his first experience....it was yummy!!!
One hour later we made it Huntington Beach
We stayed at the Hyatt Regency and it was beautiful!!!
Mom and Dad had already arrived and we met them at the hotel restaurant while we waited on Matt, Dawn, Erin, and Miles to arrive.  They were super excited to see Charlie as usual! :)

Matt, Dawn, Erin, and Miles arrived it was so fun to meet Miles for the first time.  He was handsome and it was fun to see some of the same characteristics in the boys.  They both have the Boggs cheeks for sure!

This interfered with Charlie's afternoon nap time and he decided to skip the fun and nap.  I don't blame him- it had been an adventurous day!  He was a trooper!

We then got ready for dinner- don't they look handsome....
.....and headed to Duke's for dinner.  It was in downtown Huntington Beach and right on the water.  The views were amazing and it was fun being so close to the ocean.
The meal was great and once again Charlie slept through dinner.  Poor thing! He was exhausted!

After dinner we walked along the pier for a while....

The next morning we headed for breakfast and Dad and Charlie had some cute Dad/Father moments. :)

Breakfast at the hotel was yummy!!

Then we headed outside for more photo opportunities :)

Miles tried to talk to Charlie, but Charlie was not interested. He was ready for the photo shoot to be over!
Then, we headed to the beach.  It was a little cold so we didn't get close to the ocean, but it sure was fun! We can't wait to take Charlie back when it is warmer.

Next stop.....the pool at the hotel!

For dinner, we went to Javier's in Newport.  It was yummy!!! Again, Charlie slept through dinner.
After dinner, we headed to Balboa Island.  It was a cute little town full of shops and the famous frozen banana!

There was even a store named after Charlie....
....and I found this house for the three of us.  Isn't it cute?!  I loved it!!
Once we got back to the hotel, we had another photo shoot of the boys.  Dawn bought matching shirts for them and they looked cute! Here are a few of the best.  Charlie was more interested in his thumb and fingers than Miles.  It will be fun to look back at these pictures when they are Seniors in High School!!!

Maw-Maw bought the boys these USA shirts and wanted us to send her a picture of them...

The next day we said our goodbyes to the fam.....

....made one last trip to In-n-Out....
...and said goodbye to beautiful California.

What a wonderful first family vacation we had! We all had a blast and it was so fun to have the entire family together.  We can't wait for the next time we are able to get the boys together!
