Howdy Big Tex

The boys, Nana and I headed to opening day at the State Fair of Texas last Friday! The boys have never been and I can't remember the last time I went to enjoy the Fair.  Mom told me the best day to go was opening day- not as many crowds, cleaner restrooms, better corn dogs, friendlier people.  She was right on all of that expect one thing- we stood in line for 1.5  hours to get in.  What?! The credit card machine was down and the ticket scanner was not working properly.  So, we had a delayed start.  But the boys were troopers and we had a blast!! Here they are waiting to get in....
Once we got in it was empty and wonderful!! The first stop was the Little Hands on the Farm.  This was the boys favorite- they have been talking about this ever since we left! Before heading in we had to take this pic- Luke the cow, Charlie Big Tex and I'm not sure who I was. :)
Once they entered they fed the hens and grabbed some eggs

Then they planted some seeds...
...and watered them.
Then they rode their tractor on the farm- cutest little farmer I know. :)
Picking up some milk..
At the end, we ran into Aunt Glenda.  She works at the gift shop!
Next up we went to the petting zoo.  So much fun!!

I thought this was a sweet picture of them heading to the Midway- until I saw Charlie.  Ha!
We then headed to the Midway and Luke had to ride the motorcycles.  This boy has NO FEAR! Most of the rides he didn't even hold on!

Then, Charlie and Luke rode the whales together...
Love how Charlie is holding on for his life and Luke isn't even holding on!

We took a break from the Midway and stopped for a funnel cake. This has been Charlie and I's tradition when we go to Main Street Days in Grapevine.  We always get a funnel cake and we had to get one at the Fair as well.   Luke gladly joined in on the tradition this year.  :)
Then the sugar high came and they started their own dance party! Luke has some good moves!
The last ride they picked was this one.  It was nice and slow for Charlie- Luke was not impressed though! He wanted more action!
What a fun day at the Fair with the boys and Nana! I can't wait to take the boys back next year and start this sweet tradition with them!
